If you are in the UK and are set up to process Direct Debit through Paysafe Payments, then you are required to send a mandate to the client’s bank. This is an agreement that allows Paysafe Payments to debit funds from the client’s bank through your merchant account.

The mandate must be sent 8 business days before you run your first transaction for that specific client. To create a mandate in MINDBODY, you must sell your client a contract from your Retail Point of Sale screen.

After you have created a contract, you can sell the contract through the Retail Point of Sale screen:

Creating a mandate for the first time

Step 1: Navigate to the Retail tab

To pay for new products or services, go to your Retail tab (this is usually found in the top right of your screen).

Step 2: Select your client

If you've navigated to this page by clicking the Retail tab or by clicking the “Buy” button, then you'll need to search for your client in the “Search Client By” field.

  • Note: The most recent client that you have looked at will also be available as a button

If you've navigated to this page by clicking “Check Out” from an appointment, then the client will already be selected.

Step 3: Adding items to your ticket

  1. In the add item box, click Contracts/Packages.
  1. Select the contract you’d like to add for this client.
    • Select the start date of the contract (this needs to be a minimum of eight business days from today).
    • Edit amount and add discounts if necessary.
    • Ensure “Pay Now” is unchecked.
  2. Click Add Item.

Step 4: Charging the client

  1. Once you've added all items to the ticket for this transaction, you'll need to choose a payment method.
    • Note: There will be a checkbox titled “Store Billing Info” that is automatically checked; you are unable to unselect this checkbox.
  1. Select the button titled “Direct Debit” as your payment method.
    • Enter the clients billing information as specified.
    • Note: Sort Code will always be 6 digits.

Now that this is completed, a mandate has been sent to your client’s bank to allow you to process transactions using their banking details after eight business days.

You have also scheduled an autopay to be run in eight business days to charge the clients bank account once the mandate has been approved.

Creating a mandate for new banking information

If you are updating a clients banking information, you will need to send a new mandate request before you can charge the client

Step 1: Navigate to the client profile

Using the search field, type in the name of the client you'd like to update. Once you've selected the client's name, you will be brought to the client profile.

Step 2: Update billing information

At the bottom of the profile, you will have the ability to update the client's banking information. Direct Debit information is located on the right hand side. After adding the client billing information on this screen, click the "Register Mandate" button.

Now that this is completed, a mandate has been sent to your client’s bank to allow you to process transactions using their banking details after eight business days.
