 Installing your mobile barcode scanner on a Mac, Android or PC. 

The wireless Mobile Barcode Scanner reads barcodes for retail purchases and key tag check-ins. This scanner is compatible for both Macs and PCs, and connects to Mac and Android tablets using a WiFi connection. Visit our website to purchase the Mobile Barcode Scanner.


CONDITIONS

We recommend you fully charge the device before first use. Initial charging takes about five hours.

  • Red LED = Charging
  • Green LED = Fully Charged

Make sure you have administrative privileges before you begin installing the software.

Mac installation

The steps to install can be found in the Quick Start Guide that is packaged with your device.

Computer settings

  1. Go System Preferences on your computer.
  2. Open the Bluetooth app to make sure it is enabled.
  3. Power the scanner on by holding down the small button on the top of the device.
  4. Under the Bluetooth app, Socket CHS will appear.
  5. Select Socket CHS to connect the scanner, and click Pair
  6. Once the Keyboard Setup Assistant opens, click Continue
  7. Open Text Edit, Notepad, or Microsoft Word.
  8. Once the cursor is blinking on the blank document, scan a barcode.
  9. If installed properly, you will see the numbers from the barcode appear.
  10. You are now ready to use the scanner.

 

iPad settings

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Under General, make sure the Bluetooth is enabled.
  3. Power the scanner on by holding down the small button on the top of the device.
  4. Back on your iPad, Socket CHS will appear under Devices.
  5. Select Socket CHS to connect the scanner, and click Pair.
  6. Scan a barcode.
  7. If installed properly, you will see the numbers from the barcode appear.
  8. You are now ready to use the scanner.

Please note that all Bluetooth devices operate as keyboards on tablets. Your keyboard will be accessible by scanning the "Opens iOS Keyboard" barcode, located on the back of the socket mobile's Quick Start Guide, and double tapping the socket mobile's power button to use.

Android installation

The steps to install can be found in the Quick Start Guide that is packaged with your device.

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Select Bluetooth and make sure it's enabled.
  3. Power the scanner on by holding down the small button on the top of the device.
  4. Back on your tablet, select Socket CHS under Paired Devices.
  5. A window will pop up asking if you'd like to pair the device; select Pair.

Please note that all Bluetooth devices operate as keyboards on tablets. Before connecting the scanner, make sure you are logged into MINDBODY and are done with any task that will require the keyboard. If you have connected first and then need to use the keyboard simply go to: Settings > Bluetooth > Socket CHS > Disconnect? > OK.

PC installation

The steps to install can be found in the Quick Start Guide that is packaged with your device.

  1. Download the latest SocketScan software.
  2. Follow the prompts to install the software. In the last screen, click Finish        
  3. In SocketScan Settings, select an incoming Bluetooth serial COM port, and click OK. (Click Ports to create a new "Incoming COM port" or to identify an incoming COM port.)                    
  4. Follow these steps (Socket Mobile Quick Start Guide, page 9) to pair the device with your PC (required only once during setup):
    • Power on the mobile barcode scanner.
    • Turn on Bluetooth on your computer.
    • Click on the SocketScan 10 icon in the system tray. (If the icon does not appear, open SocketScan 10 by clicking onthe desktop shortcut icon.)
    • Scan the barcode on the screen. The scanner will beep 3 times.
    • Click On screen, and click 1D Scanner.
    • Scan the barcode on the screen. The scanner will beep 3 times.
    • You will be notified of a connect request. Click on the notification balloon.
    • After the mobile scanner connects and is ready to scan barcodes, it will beep once.
  5. Now you are ready to scan barcodes.
